It is Very Important to note the dimensions:
Thickness measured through the laminations
Length measured along the grain
Width measured across the grain
We mention this because pieces that are very wide but not very long will be considerably weaker than a piece that is the same size, but longer than it is wide. This may acceptable in your project, but it may mean that more care has to be taken when turning the piece.
